"The

Dr. Douglas D. Stauffer, Author
"Failing to 'rightly divide
the word of truth,' can give rise to a theology that will take us places
God never intended us to be. Every Bible college, every seminary, and
every church should avail itself of this work as a key textbook and
reference tool. I give my hearty recommendation to One Book Rightly

One Book Rightly
Divided
Synopsis
(page x): One
Book Rightly Divided tackles
one of the most pressing theological debates of our time—how to
properly interpret the
scriptures. Unlike most hermeneutical works, this book empowers the student by presenting the Bibles own internal method
of self-interpretation.
The teaching of right division is not a new concept
designed by the author, but rather the scriptural mandate of God.
Study to shew thyself
approved unto God,
a workman that needeth not to be
ashamed,
rightly dividing
the word of truth. (II Timothy 2:15)
By allowing the Bible to
interpret itself, alleged contradictions and cultic heresies lose their
power to confuse. Likewise, difficult passages (the ones evaded in the
commentaries) are suddenly reconcilable by rightly dividing the word of
truth.
Unique in its versatility,
One Book Rightly Divided serves as a Christian's study guide, a Bible
college textbook, or a pastor's homiletical aid. The reader will be helped
by the many illuminating charts and the absence of technical language.
This volume will enhance the
Christian's personal walk with God by providing him with the biblical key
to Bible study.
"Any
person is a dispensationalist who trusts the blood of Christ rather than
bringing an animal sacrifice, and any person is a dispensationalist who
observes the first day of the week rather than the seventh."
Lewis Sperry Chafer, Dispensationalism (Dallas: Dallas
Seminary Press, 1936), p. 9.
BACK COVER:
God has given man the
Bible, yet the scriptures are debated with more vigor and less agreement
today than in any previous time. The resultant widespread error propagated
by churches and cults has compelled the author to produce this work.
One Book Rightly Divided addresses many difficult and confusing
questions such as:
-
What is the real meaning of
Acts 2:38 "...repent and be baptized for the remission of sins...?"
Is
baptism a requirement for salvation?
-
Since the New Testament does
not begin in Matthew chapter one, where does it begin (Hebrews 9:17,
John 19:33)
-
Which of the seven types of
baptism was Paul implementing when he re-baptized the converts of John the
Baptist? (Acts 19:1-6)
-
God took His Spirit and His
mercy from King Saul. Should a Christian be concerned about losing either
of these? (I Samuel 16:14, II Samuel 7:15)
-
Whose names will be removed
from the Lamb's book of life? (Revelation 3:5)
One Book Rightly Divided
will enable the reader to answer the critic and solve his own personal
uncertainties concerning difficult passages within the word of God.
Another
recommendation from the back cover (first four printings):
"One Book Rightly Divided
fulfills a real need for a work on Biblical dispensations. It is well
balanced and provides the reader with a complete understanding of the
Bible time-line. A thorough study of this material will give the student
an enhanced knowledge of the Word of God."

Excerpts from the foreword by Dr.
William P. Grady (first four printings):
"...It is certainly no coincidence
that the most important verse in scripture dealing with this matter (of
how to properly interpret scripture) has been shamefully adulterated in
every modern translation. Not only is II Timothy 2:15 the sole passage
where a Christian is commanded to study his Bible, but it also
constitutes the only place that tells him how to do so.
"...Because the Bible is a
supernatural book, it addresses individual passages to any one of three
distinct groups—Jews,
Gentiles, or Christians (I Corinthians 10:32). Applying the hermeneutical
discipline of 'right division' is the only way to ensure that a message
intended for one group is not accidentally intercepted and incorrectly
applied by another.
"...Heretics are
not the only ones who can misinterpret the Bible. Some of God's finest
servants have discovered that the scriptural mandate of right division is
no respecter of persons. When Martin Luther espoused "sola gratia, sola
fide, sola scriptura," his Vatican antagonists attempted to assail his
first two positions by discrediting him with the third. If the renegade
monk would preach 'by grace alone through faith alone,' then they would
have him exegete 'Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and
not by faith only.' (James 2:24).
"The frustrated
reformer never did get it straight, and went so far as to offer his
doctor's beret to anyone who could reconcile Paul and James on the subject
of justification. In Luther's preface to the New Testament of 1522, the
inspired book of James was stigmatized as 'an epistle of straw.' A grasp
of right division would have led Luther to begin his study by comparing
Galatians 3:28 with James 1:1.
"The Lord has
graciously used Dr. Stauffer to render an invaluable service to the Body
of Christ by producing the spiritual masterpiece, One Book Rightly
Divided. As the author will not claim exclusive illumination for the
source of his dispensational gems, neither will he assume infallible
inspiration. The ability to rightly divide scripture is a humbling
experience, as it fosters an ever-increasing awareness of just how little
we really do know.
"...The content
of this book will undoubtedly create shock waves within certain 'camps' of
fundamentalism, as the 'King James Only' position originally did. For many
sincere pastors and church members who have been hungering to learn God’s
Word, One Book Rightly Divided will truly become The Key to
Understanding the Bible. No longer will the twisted interpretations of
the deceptive cultists retain their power to exasperate dedicated soul
winners..."
